Surfboard, surfboard

I have a newfound respect for surfers as of today.

My first day off was spent taking surfing lessons on Ipanema beach in the morning followed by a 2 hour hike up Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers) mountain.

I think I caught more sea water than waves...10568767_10152619566966913_1580267158_nI feel so sorry for my teacher Felipe having to stare at my butt the whole time, not to mention getting whacked over the head with my board on several occasions

A lot of... sand.

An alternative way to get up the mountain - for 10 reals (2.50 reals for locals) you can hire a motor-taxi to drive you up through the favela to the entrance of the trail.

Luckily we managed to reach the top right before sunset. I've seen many beautiful views in my life, but this was the most breathtaking experiences I've ever witnessed. It's mind blowing how incredible the world is. Rio is the perfect combination of concrete and nature rolled into one and this city never fails to surprise me with something new every day.

BTW - If I don't get a Brazilian butt by the end of these 6 weeks I'm asking for a refund!
